This Girona-based association and NGO was founded in 1993. One of its co-founders and the leading figure behind the project, Miquel Ruiz Avilés, is its president.
1993-1995: various photographic reports on Sarajevo at war by Fotògrafs per la Pau.
1995-2007: Photographic reports in Bosnia of the post-war period as a form of awareness raising and education for peace.
2005-2006: reports after the Tsunami in south-east Asia, to raise awareness and rehabilitate schools in Kinniya and Trincomalee in Sri Lanka.
1993-2006: Over one hundred conferences and talks on issues of solidarity and raising awareness through photography.
2006-2007: Krava project aimed at supporting and improving livestock and the economy of the Srebrenica area (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the first stage being delivered on 22/09/2007.
With Fotògrafs per la Pau, Miquel Ruíz has also contributed to the following projects and exhibitions:
2002-2006: “Fragments de Sarajevo” in various locations in the Girona region and a permanent exhibit in the Museum of Bosnian History in Sarajevo.
2005-2007: Exhibition “Srebrenica. El Silenci de la memòria”, prepared jointly with his son, Isaac Ruiz, also a member of Fotògrafs per la Pau, and sponsored by the Diputació de Girona, in the Visa pour l’Image festival in Perpignan, various galleries and at the Cercle Català in Madrid.
The LiberPress France Award was given to Fotògrafs per la Pau for their work in denouncing wrong, using reports and photography exhibitions to raise awareness and educate people for peace and solidarity, and for their effective humanitarian work in Sri Lanka and Bosnia, especially the Krava project, intended to help improve livestock and the economy in the Srebrenica area (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
