LiberPress Association Award 2015

Rosa Oriol Foundation and Sister Lucía Caram

An initiative of the Plataforma Ciutadana de Solidaridad, the Rosa Oriol Foundation was created in Manresa in 2009, in the convent of Santa Clara de Manresa.

Its objective is to offer help to people who are marginalized and at risk of social exclusion, helping them to cover basic needs.

It has succeeded in involving civil society in Manresa and surrounding areas, creating a food collection and distribution platform that serves more than a thousand people; it has helped those who do not have a home or a job, offering lodging and building a hostel; it has created work cooperatives, laundries, sewing centres, community gardens producing organic food, and has developed a large social support network, which is an example for all.

The Foundation is headed by a nun, Sister Lucía Caram, who is entrepreneurial, active, imaginative, dynamic and a great believer in solidarity.

LiberPress Association Award 2015

The Rosa Oriol Foundation and Sister Lucía Caram received the 2015 LiberPress Association Award for their humanitarian work and solidarity and for their capacity for imagination and hard work, involving civil society in the Bages through their personal efforts and prompting the generosity of a large body of volunteers in the county, who provide human and material resources. They are an example for Catalonia, Spain and the world.
