SEO BirdLife (Spanish Ornithological Society), founded in 1954, is a registered non-profit and declared a public utility association dedicated to the protection, distribution and promotion of birds. It works as a team and in different directions and operational areas. Currently, at the top of the organization is Asunción Ruiz, the executive director. The organization is wide-spread thanks to its network of territorial delegations and technical offices. Additionally, it has 43 local groups spread across the country with experienced professionals and experts in birds, biology and environmental sciences. It is the organization that represents BirdLife International in Spain. BirdLife International is a federation of associations dedicated to the conservation of birds throughout the world. It is the largest worldwide organization for bird and nature conservation, with representatives in 121 countries, and it has approximately 13,000,000 members and supporters all over the world.
SEO BirdLife is the oldest of the environmental NGO’s in Spain. Since 1954, in addition to protecting birds, it has been fighting to conserve biodiversity. By getting society involved and participating, they have not stopped demanding that State, regional and municipal governments redesign their development and progress models to preserve a world to be more inhabitable and sustainable, and less dangerous for both humans and animals.
They´ve carried out different national and international events to stand up for protecting birds and the environment.

SEO BIRD LIFE receives the LIVERDPRESS AWARD 2019 for its long and marvelous track record, including protests, professionalism, efficiency and dedication to the environment, especially for protecting birds, those beautiful little creatures that we need and that, if we didn’t have, we surely would not exist. Or, if we did, everything would be different, and worse.
