Amine el bacha

Amine El Bacha was born in Beirut (Lebanon) in 1932. She was already painting by the age of 15, having ruled out the idea of becoming a musician. Shortly after graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Lebanon, she continued her studies in Paris at the National Superior School of Fine Arts and at La Grande Chaumière, with Henri Goetz. She won the Prix de l’Ambassade de France and in 1959 was awarded a prize from the Ministry of Education and Fine Arts. In 1976, she shared the Prix Cittaeterna in Rome with the artist Corneille.

Amine El Bacha lives in Beirut and Paris, where she spends most of her time in its studios and cafés, writing, drawing or painting. Examples of her prolific and eclectic artistic career can be found in the modern art museums of Spain, Italy and France, as well as in several Arab countries and many private collections.
