Author of the LiberPress poster 2016

Raquel Gu

After graduating in English philology, Raquel Gu took a postgraduate course on postcolonial English literature, travelled and, for a couple of years, sounded out the possibility of doing a PhD in English literature and culture. In the end, she went into the world of publishing, where she has now worked for fifteen years. Nowadays she works on translation, illustration and graphic humour, a field in which she finds herself very much at home, as it provides her with a witty way to release her negative side.

She has provided illustrations for Planeta, Edebé, Salvat, Grup 62, Santillana, National Geographic and TimeOut, among others. She also illustrates articles for Principia magazine. She co-authors the multi-prizewinning mathematics outreach blog for the entire Mati family and their Mateaventuras, together with the mathematician Clara Grima, with whom she also worked on Naukas. She has drawn cartoons for Jot Down and occasionally ruminates on the political and social news with cartoons in the digital newspaper Núvol. One Friday a month, she draws the news live on the TV3 programme Els matins.
