juan ballesta

A tender man. A hard man. Amusing, sarcastic and a lover of life. Rebelling against the dictatorship, he went into exile in London and Italy. In the 1980s he returned to Madrid, working for Cambio 16 and Diario 16. He has also drawn for Le Monde, the publisher Hachette, Courrier International and other newspapers and magazines in the USA and Latin America. His drawings can be seen in the Cartoon Museum Basel, in libraries and universities. In 2002, with Forges and El Roto, he represented Spain in an exhibition of work by cartoonists from around the world at the Museum of Contemporary History in Paris. He has co-produced books with José Agustín Goytisolo. He has also written and illustrated stories for children, anthologies and books. A man and a very necessary humourist.
