Joaquim Aubert Puigarnau, Kim, born in Barcelona in 1942, is an outstanding Catalan cartoonist. Trained in fine arts, he devoted himself to painting and producing comics and illustrations. His first published work appeared in Barcelona underground magazines and in the musical journal Vibraciones. In 1977 he started drawing in the satirical magazine El Jueves, where he created Martínez el Facha. This well-known character is the only one who has appeared uninterruptedly on the pages of this publication from the first issue to this day, satirising the most extreme and reactionary far right in Spain.
He has also drawn for Por Favor, Mata Ratos, Rambla, El Víbora and Makoki, among other publications and has illustrated numerous books.
In 1995 he was awarded the Grand Prize of the Barcelona International Comic Fair and in 2007 he won the Gat Perich International Humour Award. In April 2010 he won the National Comic Prize, awarded by CoNCA, for El arte de volar, produced jointly with Antonio Altarriba.
