Carles Bosch is the director of Balseros, an Oscar nominee for best full-length documentary, winner of several international awards, including an Emmy, in the years 2003 and 2004, and screened at various international film festivals.
He is also the author of Septiembres (2007), Special Jury Prize at the Miami International Film Festival; and of Bòsnia: un país ferit, a report to be premiered shortly on Televisió de Catalunya.
Veteran reporter of the 30 Minuts programme, he has covered many of the world’s most important events: the Gulf War, the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, the Zapatista Revolution, plus news and stories in Afghanistan, Iran, Chad, the Philippines, Mozambique, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Israel, among others. His first book of short stories will be published soon: Hi ha altres coses.
The LiberPress Cinema Award was presented to him as a Catalan film-maker who has shown great sensitivity in producing documentaries and full-length films with a strong social content and a marked element of protest; they include Balseros and Septiembres; and the recent production of the documentary Bòsnia malferida, which portrays the reality of this country, twelve years after the war.
