José Fort

He was born in 1946 of a Spanish mother and a French father, who was a former member of the International Brigades. He studied History and Philosophy. As a journalist, he has been a correspondent in Cuba and Latin America, responsible for Spain, Portugal and Italy, for the international service of L’Humanité. Among those he has interviewed are Gorbachev, Gandhi and Fidel Castro.  He has also covered the European Parliament, the French right, etc.  for L’Humanité.

Margarita Rivière

A freelance journalist, she graduated in Journalism and Philosophy at the University of Barcelona.Winner of the Espasa award for essay writing in 1992 and the Ciutat de Barcelona award for journalism in 1983. Specialising in cultural and political issues, she has contributed to La Vanguardia, Qué Leer and Le Monde Diplomatique.

As a writer, she has published 12 books, including Mujeres y hombres: la impía rebelión (1999).

Angel Montoto

Journalist, writer and film director among other activities. Born in Mahon in 1948. A journalist since 1968, he has taught at ESADE and helped to make the film Buenaventura Durruti, anarquista, based on the novel El corto verano de la anarquía, by H. M. Enzensberger.

As a journalist, his output has been and is immense, appearing in numerous newspapers, in this country and abroad. He has also written several books including De guerras y otras obscenidades: crónica de mis reportajes con Xavier Miserachs (2004).

Miquel Ruiz

Born in Granada in 1954, he has made his home in Girona. A consummate traveller and press photographer, he obtained the Salvador Dalí exclusive after the death of Gala.

He has contributed to various newspapers as a graphic correspondent and since 1966 has worked with La Vanguardia.

Co-founder of Fotògrafs per la Pau (‘Photographers for Peace’), giving excellent coverage to the war in Bosnia with material used in solidarity campaigns throughout the country.

In 1998, on November 1, he conducted a unique experiment: he photographed the Pont de Ferro in Girona every 15 minutes for 24 hours.

Ignacio Ramonet

Born in Redondela, Pontevedra, in 1943. He holds a doctorate in Semiology and Cultural History from EHESS, Paris. Lecturer in Communication Theory at the Dennis-Diderot University in Paris 7, and associate lecturer at the Carlos III University in Madrid.

Author of many works on the media and geopolitics, including La tiranía de la comunicación (1998).

He is chairman of the board of Le Monde Diplomatique SA and has been editor-in-chief of the monthly publication Le Monde Diplomatique and the bi-monthly Manière de Voir since 1991. His monthly editorial in Le Monde Diplomatique is considered an outstanding example of modern journalism.

Antonio Fraguas “Forges”

Born in Madrid in 1942, he studied Telecommunications Engineering and Social Sciences. Recognised as one of the best Spanish graphic humorists, his drawings have appeared in La Codorniz, Pueblo, Ya, Hermano Lobo, Por Favor, Arriba, Informaciones, Diario 16, El Mundo and El País, among other publications.

He has also been a film director, his work including País, S.A. (1975) and El bengador gusticiero y su pastelera madre (1977). On TV he has made the series Vivir es lo que importa and 24 horas aquí. He has also contributed to radio programmes, such as Protagonistas, La ventana and No es un día cualquiera.

He has received numerous accolades for his drawings, including the Gold Medal for Merit in Work, in 2007; the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Art, in 2011, and the Ondas Mediterráneas Award in 2011.

Ivana Markovíc

Born in Belgrade in 1964, she studied dramatic art at the University of Belgrade. She graduated in journalism in Geneva, moving to Madrid in 1988 and subsequently to Barcelona where she now lives.

She was a war correspondent in Yugoslavia, worked for Woman and, as a freelance journalist,  contributes regularly to El País, Marie-Claire, Elle and other publications. She has been a correspondent for the Vecernje Novosti newspaper in Yugoslavia.

Enric Matarrodona

La Bisbal d’Empordà, 1951. He holds a degree in educational science from the UAB and is a journalist. His occupations in this area notably include: CEO of Punt Diari between 1986-1989; TVE-Catalunya delegate for Girona between 1990-1995; El Punt newspaper style guide manager; CEO of Televisió de Girona between 2002-2006; publisher and contributor to various media authored between 1996-2002; L’orquestra talkshow participant on Catalunya Ràdio, between 1987-1988; Els matins talkshow participant on TV3; president of the Catalonia Association of Journalists in the area of Girona (1995 to 2005), and professor of information theory and journalistic documentation at the Advanced School of Communication and Public Relations of the University of Girona between 1990-2002. In addition, he also worked as a Culture and Festivals technician at the Roses Council between 2006-2015 and was the director of the Roses Municipal Theatre.

Juan Jose Perona

Journalist, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Doctor in Information Sciences and lecturer in Audiovisual Communication. He has participated in various research projects funded by the Directorate-General for Scientific and Technical Research.

He has written several books and has been editor of El Periódico de Catalunya and has contributed to Radio Nacional de España (RNE) and various radio stations in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
